    Опцион
    1. Контракт, который дает право (не являясь обязательством) купить или продать товар, ценные бумаги или иностранную валюту по фиксированной цене в любое время в течение оговоренного срока. Опционые сделки заключаются с целью страхования риска потерь при изменении цен. Например, производитель шоколада приобретает опцион на покупку стандартной партии какао по фиксированной цене Ј500 за тонну. Если рыночная цена на какао превысит эту сумму до истечения срока действия опциона, производитель сочтет выгодным реализовать свое право на покупку какао по цене Ј500. Если цена упадет ниже этой суммы, производитель может отказаться от своего права и купить какао по более низкой рыночной цене. Он готов заплатить за опцион на покупку (call option), например, Ј50, чтобы обезопасить себя от значительного роста цен на какао. Точно так же поступает фермер, производящий какао-бобы. Он покупает опцион на продажу (put option) стандартной партии какао по цене Ј500 за тонну. Если цена падает, он реализует свой опцион; если же цена увеличивается, он предпочтет продать свой товар по более высокой рыночной цене. Посредниками между продавцом и покупателем выступают дилеры, которые выписывают контракты на опционы и устанавливают цены на основе текущих и ожидаемых цен на рынке (см. Futures market). Операции с опционами на ценные бумаги и валюту часто осуществляются в спекулятивных целях в расчете на получение прибыли за счет противоположных тенденций в движении курсов. Крупнейшим центром фьючерских сделок в Европейском союзе является Лондонская международная биржа финансовых фьючерсов и опционов (см. London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange). 2.
